Motoman expands UK operations

Motoman expands UK operations

Keyword: Motoman

With effect from 1 September 1999, John D'Angelillo (see Plate 2) was appointed managing director of Motoman Robotics (UK) Ltd, Banbury, the UK subsidiary of Swedish robot manufacturer, Motoman Robotics Europe. John brings with him considerable experience in the industry as he was previously with Comau UK, which he headed for seven years.

John's appointment allows Mike Wilkins to concentrate on developing further the already highly successful arc welding side of the business. Mike is a specialist in this area of technology and has been responsible for building Motoman's reputation as a leader in robotic welding in the UK. Water jet and plasma cutting applications are also part of his remit.

Unchanged is the role of Derek Pasquire who will continue to expand Motoman Robotic's penetration into all other application areas. The emphasis will be on automated handling especially in die casting and press braking, cleaning and polishing, metal and wood machining, gluing and assembly. Particular targets are the automotive and aerospace industries as well as manufacturing companies within the food, rubber and plastics, ceramics and white goods sectors.

The planned growth of Motoman's UK operations will require additional staff and, consequently, a relocation to larger premises. Suitable venues are currently being evaluated.
