Describes Marks and Start, the scheme set up by Marks & Spencer (UK retailer) to help women ex-offenders into employment. Explains why Marks & Spencer set up the scheme, the support and training that the women receive, and the end review, after which women who are successful and gain an accreditation, are helped to get jobs either with Marks & Spencer or another employer. Also describes the employability workshops that the company organizes for women prisoners. Underlines the business benefits that Marks & Spencer gains from both initiatives, pointing out that they offer the company a valuable source of recruitment. Panels offer a checklist for employing a person with convictions and set out the characteristics of women offenders.ISSN: 0268-7143Reference: 40AR281
