Purpose – describes how trainers can intervene to engage employees with their work and their organization. Design/methodology/approach – discusses how coaching and facilitation can be used to motivate people, arguing that it can enable them to identify what they want to achieve in their work and help them to achieve it. Lists ten guidelines that trainers can follow when designing this type of intervention. Findings – argues that trainers and facilitators have the skills needed to enable people to develop a strong sense of purpose at work.
