About the Editors

Dr K. K. Tripathy is an officer of Indian Economic Service (IES) of 1999 batch. He is presently posted as an Officer on Special Duty (OSD) in the Office of Hon’ble Minister of Cooperation, Government of India. During the past 24 years of public service, he has served in the Vaikunth Mehta National Institute of Cooperative Management, Ministry of Education, Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Ministry of Rural Development, Ministry of Food Processing Industries, the then Planning Commission, and the United Nations Development Programme. Prior to joining IES, he also served the Provincial Government of Odisha as an Odisha Administrative Service in 1998. He has obtained his PhD on micro-finance management from the Department of Management Studies of Indian Institute of Technology Delhi, Master in Economics from Ravenshaw College of Utkal University, and Bachelor of Law (LLB) from MS Law College of Utkal University. He has published several peer-reviewed research articles, books and policy notes in the field of Agriculture, Rural Development and Cooperation.

Dr Sneha Kumari is an Assistant Professor at Symbiosis School of Economics, Symbiosis International Deemed University. She has teaching and research experience from the National Institute of Food Technology Entrepreneurship and Management, Vaikunth Mehta National Institute of Cooperative Management, Anand Agriculture University, Symbiosis Institute of Operations Management and Damodar Valley Corporation Government of Jharkhand. She is associated with different institutes for various educational and research-related project assignments. She has published research papers in peer-reviewed journals indexed in ABDC, ABS, and Scopus, and has published three international books with Emerald and World Scientific Publisher. She is a Reviewer for several peer-reviewed journals.

Dr V. G. Venkatesh is an Associate Professor at the EM Normandie Business School, France. He had years of industrial and teaching experience in logistics and supply chain management from Honduras, Sri Lanka, New Zealand, Colombia, the USA, Australia, China, France, and Bangladesh. He has been actively publishing his academic research in leading international journals in the areas of social sustainability, supplier networks, transportation infrastructure, and strategic procurement.

Dr R. Jayalakshmi has more than 30 years of academic experience. She has worked as Faculty in different training institutes and is currently working at Vaikunth Mehta National Institute of Cooperative Management, a national institute under the Ministry of Cooperation, Government of India. She also has very rich experience in cooperative training, research, and teaching. She has published several books on cooperatives. She is the Placement Director and is responsible for the development of management skills for student teaching and placement.

Dr M. P. Sukumaran Nair is President of the Thrikkakara Municipal Co-operative Hospital Society, Cochin, India. He is an Industry and Policy Expert and Corporate Manager with extensive technical and management experience in industry and government for over four decades. Currently, he is Director, Centre for Green Technology & Management, Cochin. He was earlier Secretary to Chief Minister, Chairman, Public Sector Restructuring & Audit Board of the Government of Kerala, and Chairman and Managing Director of several Public Sector Industries in Kerala. He is also an Environment and Sustainability Researcher, International Speaker and Contributor to major industry and research journals, national/international. He is actively involved in the healthcare cooperative movement in India and also closely associated with professional bodies and sits on several Expert Advisory Committees of the central and state governments in India. He is a recipient of several awards and also is an Author/Reviewer of UNDP environment reports.

About the Contributors

Kumar Mukul Choudhary completed his LLM degree from NLSIU Bangalore and is currently enrolled as a research scholar in the University of Delhi. He is an Assistant Professor of Law at IILS, Siliuri. He completed his graduation from Chanakya National Law University, Patna in 2021. He has great enthusiasm for legal research and legal writing. Due to his interest in legal research, he has presented papers in various seminars throughout the country, and some of those articles were also published in law journals.

Ashok Dalwai, a senior civil servant is serving as the Chief Executive Officer, National Rainfed Area Authority in the rank of Union Secretary, and Chairman, Empowered Body, Doubling Farmers’ Income (DFI), in the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare, Government of India. Ashok Dalwai, as a Member of the Indian Administrative Service of the 1984 batch (Odisha Cadre) has served in different capacities at both field and policy formulation stages in the States of Odisha and Karnataka, as also the Government of India (GoI), and has always focussed on system improvement & innovations for efficiency & transparency in service delivery. At the senior level, he has served as Secretary and Principal Secretary to the Government in the Departments of Industries, Steel, Mines, and Textiles, besides holding various tenures as Chairman and Managing Director of Public Sector Undertakings, Research, and Academic Institutions. He has been serving GoI since 2010. After serving as Head of the Technology Centre, UIDAI for five years, he has been with the Union Government’s Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare since 2015. As Chairman of the Committee on Doubling Farmers’ Income, his 14-volume comprehensive strategy report submitted to the Government in September 2018 is hailed as one of the first evidence-based Report on agriculture. Amongst others, his report recommended secondary agriculture as one of the ways to create productive jobs and generate supplementary incomes in the farm sector. He is presently supervising its operations as Chairman of Empowered Body. He also holds various other honorary positions, namely, Chairman of Commodities Derivative Advisory Committee (CDAC), Securities Exchange Board of India (SEBI) and Co-opted Member, Sher-e’-Kashmir University of Agriculture Science and Technology (SKUAST), Srinagar. He holds a Masters degree in Agricultural Economics and a Ph.D. in Economics. To his credit are several articles, research papers, and book chapters. His passion for academia is no less than administration. He has won several awards, including the conferment of Honorary Doctorates by four Universities and a Professorship by Shobhit University, India. Various other recognitions include conferment of an Honorary Fellowship by the Agricultural Economics Research Association, India, and the Confederation of Horticultural Association of India (CHAI).

Madhavi Damle has completed her PhD in Innovation and Knowledge Management studies from NMIMS, Mumbai, India, with Masters in Business Management and BSc Tech. Her experience of over 16 years, and in education for 14 years in academics in the role of teaching postgraduate Her interest areas primarily align with technological areas such as digital convergence & e-business, and broad areas are information technology, strategic management & financial management.

Manik Kadam is a Professor with more than three decades of experience. He is a multidisciplinary faculty. He is MSc, MBA, and PhD from Savitribai Phule Pune University. He has published and presented more than 25 research papers in national and international journals and conferences. He is an Official and Recognized Guide for Computer and IT subjects. Ten students have completed PhD under his guidance and eight are lined up for completion shortly.

Vishita Khanna is working as Assistant Professor in the Dept. of HRD and Personnel Management at International Agribusiness Management Institute, Anand Agricultural University, Anand, Gujarat, since 2017 where she is involved in teaching various subjects like Quality Management, Food Processing Technology, Human Resource Management, Business Laws, Quality Management, Strategic Management, and Organisational Behaviour. She has an overall experience of 12 years (6 years in the Food Processing Industry and 6 years in Academics). Previous to this, she was working with the Food Industry for 6 years where she worked on research and product development project for various multinational companies like McCain Foods, Hyfun Foods, Capital Foods, Vista Processed Foods, etc. She is also a certified Lead Auditor from IIQM Jaipur. She has published 11 research papers and 5 book chapters in reputed books and journals. On the education front, She is MBA – International Agribusiness Management along with BTech in Food Processing Technology and is currently pursuing her PhD (ABM) as an in-service candidate from Anand Agricultural University.

Priyanka Sunil Kothmire is pursuing PhD in Agriculture Finance from Brihan Maharashtra College of Commerce Pune. She has more than 10 years of experience in the academic sector. She has been associated with N B Navale college of Science, Commerce and Arts as an Assistant Professor in Commerce. She has qualified for the NET and SET exams. She has a passion for teaching and solving puzzles.

Raj Krishna completed an LLM degree from National Law Institute University, Bhopal. He graduated from Chanakya National Law University, Patna, in 2020. He has great enthusiasm for legal research and legal writing. He has written many articles on various legal issues, some of these articles have been published in various law journals. Due to his interest in legal research, he has presented papers in various seminars throughout the country, and some of those articles were also published in law journals.

Sneha Kumari, PhD, is an Assistant Professor at Symbiosis School of Economics, Symbiosis International Deemed University. She has teaching and research experience from the National Institute of Food Technology Entrepreneurship and Management, Vaikunth Mehta National Institute of Cooperative Management, Anand Agriculture University, Symbiosis Institute of Operations Management and Damodar Valley Corporation Government of Jharkhand. She is associated with different institutes for various educational and research-related project assignments. She has published research papers in peer-reviewed journals indexed in ABDC, ABS, and Scopus, and has published three international books with Emerald and World Scientific Publisher. She is a reviewer for several peer-reviewed journals.

R. Leelavathi working as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Management at Kristu Jayanti College, Bengaluru. She was awarded PhD in the discipline of management at CMR University, Bengaluru, and Karnataka, India. She completed her MPhil in the discipline of management at Jain University Bengaluru, Karnataka, India. She secured a Master in Business Administration (MBA) at R L Institute of Management Studies, Madurai, Tamil Nadu, India. She is in the teaching profession for more than 10 years and has 3 years of industry experience. She has presented research papers at various State, National, and International conferences, and the research papers got published in SCOPUS Indexed journals, ISBN, ISSN, UGC care, and peer-reviewed journals. She is an Accredited Trainer, Mentor, and Resource Person. She trains young minds and management executives in strategic management, human resource management, enterprise risk management, investment management, and business research methods.

Aditi Mishra is an Assistant Professor at Symbiosis School of Economics, Pune. With a PhD in Economics, she has been in academics since 2013. She has a strong research background in the intersection of e-governance, gender, and education. Presented research papers at several national and international conferences and has published in prestigious journals.

Rakhi Mohan currently working as an Assistant professor at Kristu Jayanti College (Autonomous), Bengaluru. She is having 7+ years of experience in both teaching as well as guiding undergraduate and postgraduate students for their academic achievements. She has presented research papers at various State, National, and International conferences, and the research papers got published in ISBN, ISSN, UGC care, and peer-reviewed journals.

M. P. Sukumaran Nair, PhD, is President of the Thrikkakara Municipal Co-operative Hospital Society, Cochin, India. He is an Industry and Policy Expert and Corporate Manager with extensive technical and management experience in industry and government for over four decades. Pankaj Pathak is an Accomplished Researcher in the field of Information Technology and Computer Science. He holds a postgraduate degree in Information Technology, as well as a PhD in Computer Science. He has published numerous papers in both national and international journals, showcasing his expertise in the field. His research interests include topics such as the Internet of Things, AI, and data mining. His work has been widely cited by other researchers in the field, and his papers have contributed to the advancement of knowledge in the area.

Mansi Patnaik holds a Bachelor’s degree in Economics with Honours from Symbiosis International (Deemed University). Over the course of her academic journey, she discovered her passion for health and behavioural economics, which has become the cornerstone of her research work. These research interests propelled her to work on menstrual hygiene management and assess its impact on macroeconomic and microeconomic variables. Her work showcases her zeal for exploring the realms of maternal, child, and menstrual health and drawing insights from consumer behaviours by analysing their decision-making patterns.

Nirupama Patwardhan is a Passionate Academic, Learning and Development Professional and Freelance Consultant with over 24 years of experience. She is currently working with TalentAide, a small consultancy firm that works primarily with small and medium-sized enterprises. She is also deeply interested in women’s rights, diversity and inclusion and social and community initiatives for societal upliftment. She has been actively participating in helping underprivileged girls from local communities get basic education. She is also dedicated to advancing women’s standing in society and helping them advance in all walks of life and all hierarchical levels. Her other areas of research interest are work-life balance/integration and career pathing.

Samaya Pillai is a Full-time Faculty in Symbiosis Institute of Digital and Telecom Management, Symbiosis International University, Pune (India). She holds an MCA, MCM, and MPhil degree from the Faculty of Management. She is Persuing her PhD with (Savitribai Phule Pune University) SPPU, Pune University under Computer Management. She has 18 years of teaching experience with a specialisation in databases and healthcare. Her research interests focus on computer sciences and big data domains. She has taught subjects in programming – Java, Python, C. Databases – Oracle, MySQL, MongoDB, Operating Systems, MIS, Basic Statistics, and Networking, etc. She has 20 publications in Scopus and 10 papers in Conference proceedings.

Arun Prakash working as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Management at Kristu Jayanti College, Bengaluru. He graduated in Electrical and Electronics Engineering at Maharaja Engineering College under Anna University Chennai, Tamil Nadu. He secured Masters in Business Administration at Sri Krishna College of Engineering and Technology, Coimbatore, Tamilnadu. He is pursuing PhD in the field of capital markets at Bharathiar University, Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu. He is in the Profession of teaching for more than 12 years. He has presented a number of papers in national and international journals, conferences, and symposiums. His main area of interests are capital markets, marketing, HR, strategic management, data analytics, and research.

Rutuparna S. holds an MBBS degree, and is a Radiologist with MD in Radiology, besides earning an EDiR degree, and a Dip. ICRI certification. She is currently working as a Senior Consultant at Aster CMI Hospital, Sahakarnagar, Bengaluru. Her clinical responsibilities include monitoring and protocol studies, routine reporting of various radiology studies, and supervising radiographers. She is also responsible for teaching registrar and radiographer trainees. This allows her to engage herself as both a medical practitioner and an academic in the medical domain. Her previous appointments include working as a Consultant at Teleradiology Solutions (TRS), Whitefield, Bengaluru and Columbia Asia Hospital, Yeshwanthpur, Bengaluru. She has experience in a range of radiology studies, including GI, GU, MSK, Chest, Oncology, Transplant, Trauma, Gynaecology, Paediatric, and Neuroradiology. She has also performed procedures such as US-guided FNA, biopsy, drainage, and CT-guided chest and abdominal biopsy, and drainage. She is recognized as one of the highly dedicated young professionals.

Niharika Singh is an Assistant Professor at Symbiosis School of Economics, Pune. With a doctorate in Labour Economics, she has been in academia since 2009. She has taught at colleges in Jaipur and Bangalore earlier. Her major work areas are labour and development economics. She has presented research papers at several national and international conferences and has publications in some reputed journals.

Ritambhara Singh is an Associate Professor (Agribusiness Management), at Dr. Rajendra Prasad Central Agricultural University, Pusa, Samastipur, Bihar, India. She holds a Masters and a Doctorate in Agricultural Economics from Govind Ballabh Pant University of Agriculture and Technology, Pantnagar. India. Besides this, she has completed a certificate course in Finance from the University of Michigan, USA, Microeconomics from the University of Illinois, USA, and Supply Chain from the University of Adelaide, Australia. She has around 17 years of professional experience in various capacities with organisations of repute. Besides teaching, she has handled various National and International Projects. Her areas of interest are International Trade, Agribusiness Economics and Policies, Farmer Producer Organisations, and Secondary Agriculture. She is a Member of several professional bodies and is on the Editorial Board of Magazines. She is more than 150 publications to her credit in various forms in reputed journals, magazines, and news dailies.

Vignesh Sudhir is a final year student of a Master Degree in Economics. He is an NISM (National Institute of Securities Markets) Certified Research Analyst, and closely watches the markets for the latest trends and trades. He has done his schooling at Kendriya Vidyalayas in Thiruvananthapuram and Pune, India. He completed his AISSCE (12th grade) of the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), New Delhi, in the Science stream, though his first love has always been finance and economics. He believes that the economy of any country can be developed and grown through community-based living and a community-based economy. He has represented his school in numerous quiz competitions and chess competitions. He also holds a bachelor’s degree in Commerce.

Khushbu Thadani is from Meghalaya but has been in Pune for over 17 years. She has over 12 years of experience in the field of academics. She has completed her PhD from Savitribai Phule Pune University on the topic – A Study of the Reproductive and Child Health (RCH) Programme in the State of Meghalaya. She is currently an Assistant Professor with Symbiosis School of Economics. She teaches Development Economics and Qualitative Research Methods. Her research interest lies in the areas of Development Economics, Health Economics, and Health Public Policy. Her core interest is women and maternal health. She is currently working on a Funded Project on the topic of the Nexus of COVID-19 Pandemic and Menstruation: A Case Study of Select Districts in Maharashtra.

K. K. Tripathy, PhD, is Economic Adviser at the Ministry of Cooperation and is presently posted as the Officer on Special Duty (OSD) in the Office of Hon’ble Minister of Cooperation, Government of India. Prior to joining the IES, he also worked as an Executive Magistrate in the Government of Odisha after entering the Odisha Administrative Service in 1998. He obtained his PhD on micro-finance management and its impact on rural livelihoods from the Department of Management Studies of Indian Institute of Technology Delhi, Master in Economics from Ravenshaw College of Utkal University, and Bachelor of Law (LLB) from MS Law College of Utkal University. During the past 21 years of public service, he has served in the Vaikunth Mehta National Institute of Cooperative Management, Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Ministry of Rural Development, Ministry of Food Processing Industries, Planning Commission, and the United Nations Development Programme. He has published around 70 research articles.

Sudhir Velayudhan after earning Masters Degree in Statistics, he served the National Sample Survey Office (NSSO), Ministry of Statistics, Government of India in the late 1980s and early 1990s. He was posted in the Bhopal Regional Office of NSSO. Later, he quit NSSO and joined the National Council for Cooperative Training (NCCT), New Delhi as a Faculty Member. He has over three decades of experience as a Trainer in the Cooperative sector. In the NCCT, he was initially posted in the Institute of Cooperative Management (ICM), Guwahati (Assam). Currently, he is posted at Vaikunth Mehta National Institute of Cooperative Management (VAMNICOM), Pune. He has had the privilege of working closely with cooperatives across the country in different contexts, regions, and sectors. He believes that the true strength of a Cooperative can be appreciated only by experiencing it. He also holds a master’s degree in Business Administration.

V.G. Venkatesh is an Associate Professor at the EM Normandie Business School, France. He had years of industrial and teaching experience in logistics and supply chain management from Honduras, Sri Lanka, New Zealand, Colombia, the USA, Australia, China, France and Bangladesh. He has been actively publishing his academic research in leading international journals in the areas of social sustainability, supplier networks, transportation infrastructure and strategic procurement.
