About the Contributors

Mario César Dávila Aguirre holds a PhD (Business) and an MBA from EGADE Business School, Tecnológicode Monterrey. He is currently Professor of Entrepreneurship and Innovation at Universidad de Monterrey (UDEM). His primary research lines include entrepreneurship, social entrepreneurship, social innovation, and social development. He is also General Director of “Red de Empoderamiento eInnovación Social A.C.” and has served as consultant to SMEs and NGOs.

Klender Cortez has a Doctorate in Business Studies from the University of Barcelona. He has been recognized by the National System of Researchers Level 1 in Mexico during the last 12 years. Dr Cortez is currently the Secretary of Research and Innovation of the FACPYA, UANL, and has worked as a consultant. In addition, he has more than 40 publications in book chapters and international arbitration journals, such as the Journal of Cleaner Production, Emerging Markets Review, and Kybernetes, among others.

Jesús Cruz Álvarez is a Research Professor in the School of Business at the Nuevo Leon State University, where he has been a faculty member since 1997. He holds a BSc in Industrial Engineering, an MSc in Quality, and a PhD in Business. He has also served in the industry in different executive positions in manufacturing environments and is currently full-time Research Professor actively working on research projects related to business competitiveness.

Alfonso López-Lira holds a PhD in Business Administration from EGADE Business School. With a Bachelor’s degree in Industrial and Systems Engineering, and a Master’s degree in Quality and Productivity from Tecnológico de Monterrey, he is a leading consultant in quality management, continuous improvement, and innovation. As a national accredited researcher, his research line is focused in business development through knowledge transfer and innovation; thus, several studies involving SMEs from Latin America have been published. As a Graduate Professor, he lectures courses in master’s programs, doctorate seminars, and doctoral dissertations, Georgina Parra-Irineo, Nayra González-González Arturo Tavizon-Salazar.

Mónica Blanco-Jiménez is a Research Professor in the School of Business at the Nuevo León State University (UANL), where she has been a faculty member since 2000. She holds a PhD in Political Science and International Relations Master’s degree from the Sorbonne University, Paris, France. She also holds two Post-Doctorates from the University of Texas at San Antonio and the University of Arizona, respectively. She is currently coordinator of the PhD in Administration and is a full-time Research Professor currently working on research projects related to international business and administration.

Aldahir Caballero Campbell holds Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in International Business from the Universidad Autonóma de Nuevo León. He also was a coordinator of a Business Incubator at the UANL Business School and teaches courses of International Finance and Entrepreneurship in this institution. He is currently a PhD student in Business Administration at EGADE Business School, Tecnologico de Monterrey.

María Mayela Terán-Cázares is a Research Professor in the School of Business at the Nuevo Leon State University, where she has been a faculty member since 1995. She has a degree in Management, a master’s degree in Business Administration with emphasis on Marketing, and a PhD in Philosophy, with a specialization in Administration. She has also worked as a Consultant and Trainer in public and private organizations at a national level. She is a full-time Research Professor currently working on research projects related to human behavior in organizations through the study of organizational citizenship behavior and organizational culture.

María Eugenia García-de-la-Peña is the Principal at the School of Business at the Nuevo Leon State University, where she has been a faculty member since 1980. She has a degree in Management, a Master’s degree in Business Administration with emphasis on Human Resources, and a PhD in Management and Educational Leadership. In the field of private initiative, she has developed as a Consultant and Trainer in public and private organizations at a national level. Her research projects are linked to the academic staff of Human Capital Management.

Consuelo García de la Torre is a full-time Research Professor at EGADE Business School Monterrey, member of the SNI National Research System of Mexico (SNI1), and Researcher at the Strategic Research Group in Social Innovation. She holds a PhD in Administración from HEC University, Montreal, Canada, and a master’s degree in Management from the Lovaina-la-Nueva en Bélgica University. Fields of expertise include sustainability; ethics and corporate governance; entrepreneurship; social responsibility; consumer behavior; marketing strategy and international marketing; social marketing; global management; industrial psychology; management and humanism; and intercultural negotiations.

Amparo Guadalupe Espinosa-Domínguez holds a Management master’s degree with an emphasis on Human Resources from the Business School of the State University of Nuevo León (UANL). She has been a full-time Professor for over 19 years. She is a leader of the academic staff of Human Capital Management and also a founding partner of Evolution Operadora, a consulting firm focused on coaching, training, and counseling.

Martha del Pilar Rodriguez holds a doctorate in Business Studies at the University of Barcelona. She has been recognized by the National System of Researchers Level 1 in Mexico during the last 12 years. Dr Rodriguez is currently leader of Applied Research in Finance and Economics. She has worked as a Consultant. In addition, she has more than 40 publications in book chapters and international arbitration journals such as the Journal of Cleaner Production, Emerging Markets Review and Kybernetes, among others.

Wilfredo Giraldo - Mejía is the Director of Latin American Operations for ACBSP. He is also the Director of the Business Quality Institute at San Martin de Porres University, whose mission is to reinforce linkage between university and industry by providing services to companies to improve its management in marketing, operations, human resources, and administration. He is also conducting projects in fields of social responsibility and environmental management. Giraldo studied Industrial Engineering at the National University of Engineering. He holds a Master’s degree in Business Administration from the Applied Science Peruvian University Business School and a PhD in Accounting and Finance from the Graduate School of San Martin de Porres University, Lima, Peru.

Joel Mendoza-Gómez is a faculty for the doctoral program of the Business School at the Universidad Autónoma de Nuevo Leon (UANL) and a certified Researcher by the National System of Researchers Level 1. Dr Mendoza also serves as academic coordinator for the MBA program (UANL). His current research area is teamwork and he has published many articles and books. He obtained his bachelor degree in Economics and has an MBA (UANL). He received his PhD in Management from the Instituto Tecnológico de Monterrey (ITESM).

Nayra González-González holds a Human Resources master’s degree from the State University of Nuevo León (UANL), where she is a Researcher and a full-time Professor since 2009. She currently serves as management coordinator at the Graduate School of Business and has worked in different executive positions in human resources and management areas. She has an Academic Certification by ANFECA and is the leader of the Academic Group “Human Development and Strategic Planning in Organizations.”

Georgina Parra-Irineo is a full-time Professor and Researcher at the Universidad Estatal de Sonora in San Luis R.C., Sonora, México, with more than 20 years of experience in business administration in the private sector. She has a master’s degree in Administration in International Business and a PhD in Philosophy, with a specialization in Administration from the Universidad Autonoma de Nuevo Leon, México.

Elías Alvarado Lagunas was awarded a Doctorate in Social Sciences with mention summa cum laude in December 2013 from the Universidad Autonóma de Nuevo Leon (UANL). He is currently working as a Research Professor at the School of Public Accounting and Administration of UANL, where he teaches courses in Statistics, Fundamentals of Economics, Economy of the Country and Mexican Financial System, Financial Mathematics and Business Valuation. He is a member of the National System of Researchers (SNI – Level C).

Mario Vázquez Maguirre holds a PhD (Business) from EGADE Business School, Tecnológico de Monterrey, and an MSc (Economics and Public Policy) at EGAP, Tecnológico de Monterrey. He is currently a Professor of Entrepreneurship, Sustainability, and Corporate Social Responsibility at Universidad de Monterrey (UDEM). His primary research lines include social entrepreneurship, social enterprises and social development, humanistic management, and sustainability. He has worked in corporations such as BBVA and UPS, and he has served as consultant to SMEs and NGOs.

Juan Rositas-Martínez is an economist (UANL); he has completed his MBA (ITESM), with a Master’s in Econometrics and TQM diploma from Yokohama, Japan. PLS-Smart and SEM Analytic Tehniques diploma from Georgia State University, Scientific Research Writing Texas A&M University, and a PhD in Management (UANL). He started his professional career in FEMSA, and was a consultant in ITESM & INAP in the educational and industrial environment. He has authored research papers related to economics, quality and talent development, recognition S.N.I. Level I and PRODEP Profile, he also has been responsible of the Consolidated Academic Group “Organizational Innovations” during the last 12 years.

P atricio Galindo Mora is a Research Professor in the School of Business at the Nuevo Leon State University, where he has been a faculty member since 1988. He holds a BSc in Business Administration, an MSc in Business Administration, and a PhD in Administration. He worked, for 30 years, in the electrical industry in different executive positions and currently is a full-time Research Professor actively working on research projects related to business competitiveness.

L uis Enrique Ibarra Morales is a Research Professor in the Faculty of Administration at the Sonora State University where he has been a member since 2001. He holds a BSc. in Industrial Systems Engineering, a MSc. in Business Administration, and a PhD in Administration. He also served in different positions in the government. Currently, he is a full-time Research Professor in Business Administration and a leader of research projects in quality and competitiveness of small and medium enterprises.

Oscar Elí Velarde Moreno is a Research Professor in the School of Economical Sciences at the Universidad Autónoma de Sinaloa, where he has been a faculty member since 2017. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in International Relationships, a master’s in International Business, and a PhD in Administration. He also served in the industry in different executive positions on international commerce, and he is currently full-time Research Professor actively working on research projects related to international business.

Sergio Guerra-Moya is a Research Professor in the School of Business at the Nuevo Leon State University, where he has been a faculty member since 1987. He holds a BSc in Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, MSc in Information Systems and Operations Research, and PhD in Business. He also served in the industry in different executive positions in design, manufacturing, and administration and has been advisor in different companies. He is currently full-time Research Professor actively working on research projects related to international business operation.

Moises Alejandro Alarcón O suna has a PhD in Economics – Administrative Sciences from the University of Guadalajara and is a member of the National System of Researchers of CONACYT, attached to the Autonomous University of Sinaloa in the Faculty of Economics and Social Sciences. He currently serves as Professor and Researcher. His lines of research are in “Studies on the SME” and “Technological Change.”

John Macías-Prada is a Sociologist and Political Scientist, Professor-Researcher at the School of Management of EAFIT University (Colombia). He holds a PhD in Administration from EAFIT University and a PhD in Organizational Studies from the Autonomous Metropolitan University (UAM) of Mexico. He has worked as an Advisor on entrepreneurship, innovation, and citizenship issues in various public initiatives in the city of Medellín. His main research interests are in the area of social entrepreneurship, social innovation, social enterprises, civic education, and public policies for the training of young people.

Abel Partida Puente is a Research Professor in the School of Business at the Nuevo Leon State University, where he has been a faculty member since 1991. He has a degree in Computer Science, a master’s degree in Business Administration with emphasis on Marketing, and a PhD in Philosophy, with a specialization in Administration. He has also worked in the commercial and services industry in different executive positions in information technology development and application environments. He is a full-time Research Professor currently working on research projects related to knowledge management models for competitiveness and economic development of companies.

Pedro Ariza-Ricaldi has a Master’s in Administration from the University of San Martin de Porres (USMP), enrolled in SUNEDU, Bachelor of International Business Administration (USMP), Certificate of Specialization Program of Technology Executives of Information (ESAN), Business Process Management (ESAN), Business Intelligence (ESAN), Project Management in Information Technology (ESAN), Financial Evaluation of IT Projects (ESAN), Application of MS Project for planning decision making (ESAN), Specialization in ISO 9001, Lean Six Sigma at the Black Belt level (SNI-USMP). Responsible for the Dual Training Program (USMP), as members of the DualeHochschuleLatinoamerica (DHLA), Trainer of International Trainers (Basis), by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry Peruvian German, AHK Peru, approved by the Confederation of German Chambers (DIHK), manager of the business relationship between the university - company through the development of projects, researcher and teacher of the USMP. Applicant to the PHD in administration of the Autonomous University of Nuevo Leon Mexico and DBA of the USMP.

Silvia Valeria Mejía Rodríguez holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administrationby Universidad Autonóma de Nuevo León. She is also a co-founder of “Red de Empoderamiento e Innovación Social A.C.” and she has appeared as a Speaker at national events of entrepreneurship, such as ANFECA and ENACTUS.

Adriana Segovia-Romo has a PhD in Management from the Business School of the Nuevo Leon State University (UANL), where he has been a faculty member since 1998. Dr Segovia currently is member of the MBA Committee (UANL) and has the PRODEP Profile recognition and the CPA Academic Certification by ANFECA. She has worked in the private sector as a Consultant. In addition, she has diverse publications in book chapters and international arbitration journals. Her current research area is human capital.

Alma Berenice Méndez is a Research Professor at Nuevo Leon State University (UANL) where she has been member since 2009. She holds a Doctorate in Accounting from the School of FACPYA of the UANL and has been recognized as candidate level by the National System of Researchers. She has worked in the private sector. Currently, she is working at FIME as Budget and Financial Planning Manager. She has publications in book chapters and in international journals, such as Emerging Markets Review, and those of Springer among others.

Mario Vargs-Saénz holds a PhD from Universidad Pontifica Saleciana, a Master’s degree in Business from Universidad EAFIT, and a Bachelor’s degree in Philosophy from Universidad Santo Tomás. As a Professor and Administrative Officer, he has occupied several positions within Universidad EAFIT. In addition, he has given lectures and conferences in numerous universities across the world.

Arturo Tavizon-Salazar is an experienced International Business Director with a demonstrated history of working in the higher education industry and consulting services. He is skilled in innovation technology management, innovation processes, statistical modeling, and e-learning consulting, strategic negotiations, and analytical skills. He is a strong education professional with a PhD focused on Management and Innovation Technology from Universidad Autónoma de Nuevo León and EGADE Business School, Tec De Monterrey.

Manuel Vázquez-Zacarías holds a PhD in Business Administration from EGADE Business School. With a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical-Electrical Engineering from Tecnológico de Monterrey, he is a leading consultant in innovation and environmental sustainability. He is also a nationally accredited Researcher, and his research line is focused on business development through circular economies and innovation. As a Graduate Professor, he lectures courses in Master’s programs, doctorate seminars, and doctoral dissertations.
