Vantage solder saver from Contax

Article Type: New products From: Soldering & Surface Mount Technology, Volume 22, Issue 1

Production automation system specialist, Contax Ltd, have added the ESS220 Solder Separation System to their recently launched Vantage range.

The system is for use with all lead and lead-free wave soldering machines. It is a unique device used to release solder from dross formed within solder pots, thereby saving up to 50 per cent in new solder bar purchases. Hot dross is broken up by the ESS220 from the molten solder surface within the wave solder pot by the hand-held, lightweight solder saver. This instantly separates the dross oxides from the solder within its unique rotary impeller.

The solder contained in the dross amalgam rapidly flows back into the molten solder within the wave solder pot, whilst the oxide powder free flows out of the solder saver to float on the solder surface. The small dross particles are then ready for easy collection and safe disposal.
