The National Electronics Manufacturing Initiative (NEMI) has announced it is holding the inaugural meeting for its Roadmap 2000 at APEXSM. The day-long meeting takes place on 17 March 2000 at the Long Beach Convention Centre in California.

"For our roadmap to accurately reflect the state of the electronics industry, we need as broad and diverse an input from the industry as possible", says Jim McElroy, executive director and chief executive officer of NEMI. Acknowledging that setting aside time and travel budgets for industry meetings is becoming increasingly challenging for companies, McElroy says NEMI decided to align its Roadmap 2000 meeting with APEXSM to mitigate the issue.

Every two years, NEMI identifies the future manufacturing technology needs of the North American electronics industry, including the key technologies and infrastructure developments required to ensure its competitiveness over the next decade. The findings are published in the Roadmap. NEMI will also hold its board of directors meeting, a member council meeting on 16 March, and technical implementation group meetings at APEXSM, which takes place at the Long Beach Convention Centre in California between 12-16 March 2000.
