Valpak launches Environmental Legislation and Advice Forums for businesses
Article Type: Industry news From: Pigment & Resin Technology, Volume 41, Issue 5
Valpak, a leading provider of environmental solutions, has launched a number of free Regional Forums for UK businesses. The forums, which are being held at various locations across the UK, have been designed to keep businesses up-to-date with ever changing environmental legislation and to provide useful information on other related areas.
The Regional Forums are free of charge, open to any UK business and will run throughout June and July 2012. Some of the topics that these events will cover include:
- •
UK and international environmental legislation;
- •
government red tape review;
- •
energy management; and
- •
waste management.
Representatives from the Environment Agency (EA), Scottish Environment Protection Agency (SEPA) and the Department of Environment Northern Ireland (DOE NI) will form part of the panel of experts for some of these events.
Steve Gough, Valpak Chief Executive Officer, commented:
“We understand that some businesses may find keeping up-to-date with legislation to be time consuming and complex, which is why we have launched these Regional Forums. They will provide an excellent opportunity for any business to make sure that they continue to be or are fully compliant with all environmental legislation that affects them.
A number of companies are currently completing or have completed Civil Sanctions Enforcement Undertakings to make up for prior offences under the Packaging Waste Regulations in England and Wales. This demonstrates how non-compliance with environmental legislation can have both financial and reputational implications.
Forum attendees can take away practical information which can be applied to their business strategies the very next day. The information that they will receive will help them to ensure that their business is compliant with all environmental legislation, as well as offering tips and advice on how to manage costs and enhance their reputation.”
These Regional Forums were launched at the beginning of May 2012 and are already proving to be very popular. They will provide attendees with excellent networking opportunities and the chance to share experiences.
