DyStar to acquire the Rotta Group

DyStar to acquire the Rotta Group

DyStar, the world's premier textile dyes company, has signed an agreement to acquire the business activities of the Rotta Group. Financial details of the deal are not to be disclosed.

Rotta produces chemical auxiliaries for the textile, leather and paper industries. It has 200 employees and serves 1,300 customers in 80 countries. The acquisition comprises Rotta's business in Germany and subsidiaries in Brazil, China, France, Italy and Turkey.

“Rotta is an established supplier whose products fit in well with our portfolio,” explains DyStar's CEO Dr Clemens Willée. “The acquisition is the first step in the expansion of DyStar's product portfolio and means the company will now be able to offer customers a complete package comprising textile auxiliaries and colorants. DyStar is thus starting to adapt its structure to reflect the dramatic change in market conditions”.

Alfred Mittelmann, Managing Director of Rotta, who will be responsible for the auxiliaries business at DyStar in the future, is upbeat about the transaction: “In my view the move to DyStar is very positive for employees and customers. Our business will continue to operate as usual and customers can place their confidence in the continued quality of our products and service. In addition, DyStar will open up new business opportunities for us”.

Like DyStar, Rotta is a major supplier to the textile industry. Its portfolio comprises pretreatment products, dyeing auxiliaries and products for resin finishing, coating, the treatment of wool and garment finishing. Other key products are leather finishes for the automotive, furniture and shoe industries. Rotta also markets auxiliaries used in the paper industry to manufacture specialty paper grades such as bank notes, photographic paper, printer paper and packaging.
