Senior osteoporosis specialists have voiced their opinions about the National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence’s (NICE) continued restriction of certain osteoporosis drugs within the NHS.

The news highlights how important it is for women of all ages to look after their bones, which includes having a diet rich in bone-strengthening nutrients such as calcium and vitamin D. However, research suggests that omega fatty acids may boost your bones too. For instance, one report published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition suggests omega-3 fatty acids can improve bone mineral density in healthy young men following tests that measured fatty acid levels in blood samples and bone mineral density scans. The researchers found a link between higher levels of omega-3 fatty acids in the blood and higher spinal bone mineral density.
