School Food Trust Cook for Success Conference Programme
School Food Trust Cook for Success Conference Programme
The conferences were held in February 2007 with one in Leeds, two in Manchester, one in Birmingham and one in Weston Super Mare during the half term weeks.
The events started with a welcome from a School Food Trust member, an interview with a cook and head teacher who had transformed school food in their schools and a video excerpt from a Teacher's TV programme of a Primary and secondary case study.
There were table discussions on increasing the take up of school food and how to implement "the whole school approach". A speaker also described how they had improved food in schools.
A celebrity chef also gave a practical cookery demonstration to inspire cooks.
Additionally there was a small exhibition to provide information to cooks on red meat, fruit and vegetables, pasta, milk and cheese and also training for cooks.
Each event was attended by about 300 cooks, who thoroughly enjoyed meeting other cooks and debating way of improving school food.
