Handbook on GM foods, ingredients and additives

Handbook on GM foods, ingredients and additives

Genetically modified foods and ingredients have dominated the news headlines in recent months. In the UK, European Union rules that force food retailers to label items containing transgenic maize and soya have been extended to restaurants and cafÅs. In addition a number of supermarket chains have announced plans to eliminate GM foods from own brand products. Leatherhead Food RA have produced Handbook on Labelling of Genetically Modified Foods, Ingredients and Additives. Its aim is to guide food manufacturers and exporters and to provide answers to questions such as which countries require labelling of GM foods? What is the legislative background to labelling requirements for GM foods and what statement is required to be declared? It also gives information on where such a statement should be positioned and whether GM additives need to be labelled. The handbook is priced at £70 for members of the Association and £90 for non-members.
