DEK Solar appoints Andy Ure to spearhead business development in America
Article Type: Appointments From: Microelectronics International, Volume 27, Issue 1
DEK Solar recently announced the appointment of Andy Ure to the position of Alternative Energies Business Development Manager for the Americas, further underscoring the company's commitment to support customers with unmatched expertise and broad process knowledge (Figure 1).
Ure, whose career spans more than 20 years at DEK, has held numerous roles within the company and has been instrumental in bringing several technologies to the fore. Not only does he have extensive field service engineering and applications engineering experience as a foundation, but Ure was also part of the development teams for DEK's award-winning ProFlow(tm) enclosed print head technology and its virtual panel tooling singulated substrate handling system, in addition to contributing to multiple next-generation ball attach solutions. Currently, Ure serves as Business Manager for one of the DEK's top customers – a role he will maintain in addition to his new responsibilities.
“Andy's unique skill set combines exceptional engineering and technical knowledge with his aptitude for working alongside multinational companies both at a corporate, commercial level as well as an engineering level,” says DEK Solar Alternative Energy Development Manager, Darren Brown. “His ability to easily transition between technical, strategic and commercial development makes Andy the ideal candidate to lead our photovoltaic initiatives in the Americas.”
DEK Solar has enjoyed substantive growth over the last several years as photovoltaic specialists have realized the exceptional accuracy and repeatability the company's PV1200 and PV3000 solar metallization solutions deliver. With impressive credentials including 12.5 μm resolution, advanced handling capabilities and Six Sigma process ratings, DEK Solar's PV1200 and PV3000 metallization systems provide the fine-line, 100 μm print capability needed for solar cell production and emerging print-on-print processes. For photovoltaic firms that require superior throughput capability, the PV3000 line deploys multiple print heads in parallel to achieve peak run rates of a remarkable 3,600 wafers/h.
As Alternative Energies Business Development Manager for the Americas, Ure is charged with initiating awareness of DEK Solar's vast capabilities and support network, identifying and analyzing potential partner strategies and engaging with firms in multiple market sectors to promote DEK Solar's metallization solutions.
Ure finds the Alternative Energies market intriguing and his new role is one he is confident will be very gratifying. “The opportunity this position affords for me to make an environmental contribution by promoting solar as an alternative to traditional energy sources is very satisfying, personally,” explains Ure. “And, on a professional level, this is a job that I find challenging and invigorating. Knowing that the Americas solar market is on the verge of huge growth opportunities and that our cost per watt advantage delivers a tremendous competitive benefit to customers just makes my new role all the more exciting.”
In his position as Alternative Energies Business Development Manager for the Americas, Ure will be based in Phoenix, AZ and will report to DEK Solar's Darren Brown. For more information on DEK Solar and the company's PV1200 and PV3000 solar metallization platforms, log onto: www.deksolar.com
