Pronal presents its new high-strength hydraulic separator
Keywords: Hydraulics
Pronal, a French company with expertise in high-technology flexible products made from elastomer-coated fabrics, introduced its new "high-strength" hydraulic separator at Hydraulics & Pneumatics 2001 and the Hanover Fair earlier this year.
Variations in volume occur frequently in a hydraulic circuit. They can cause detrimental effects (turbulence, condensation, oil emulsified with air, oil contamination) that can damage the circuit. Using Pronal separators cancels out differences in volume, thus preventing risk of incident by fully protecting the circuit with regard to the outside environment. The leading feature of these products is that they are fully suitable for the various existing types of hydraulic circuits. The new "high-strength" hydraulic separator introduced by Pronal can continuously withstand extreme temperature conditions from –20°C to +120°C.
The separator is not mechanically dependent and its operating principle consists in isolating hydraulic fluids – retained in a tank – from the environment by means of a fully deformable diaphragm. This diaphragm is in continuous contact with the surrounding air and may be located inside or outside the tank. A heavy-duty synthetic fiber fabric, coated on both sides and vulcanized with oil-resistant elastomer, is used. The surface in contact with the atmosphere (incoming and outgoing air) has been especially formulated to resist ozone exposure.
The Pronal separators are available in various capacities ranging from 1 litre up to 70 litres and more (Plate 3). Pronal hydraulic separators are used in hydraulic equipment, electric generators, forklift trucks, cranes, grabs and handling equipment, as well as on offshore platforms.
