Call for papers

Purpose and scope

Online Information Review is a bi-monthly international journal concentrating on digital information sources, systems and services. The journal's primary focus is broadly on the application of theory to practical aspects of online and digital information creation, storage, retrieval and use in academic, corporate, and scientific contexts. Papers on all aspects of information retrieval, including software developments and human-computer interaction issues, are welcomed, as are contributions on new technologies, including processors, storage media and devices, networks, and software of use in the field of interactive information and data. OIR publishes research-oriented contributions, theory-based analyses and practice-based discussions of new developments and applications, as well as regular review and professional reading sections, and a "savvy searching" column.

The Editor is supported by an international Editorial Board, and prospective authors are invited to contact either the Editor or Editorial Board members to discuss possible submissions. Papers ready for submission should be sent electronically to the Editor for review.

Article presentation

Articles should be between 3,000 and 6,000 words in length, although shorter communications dealing with more immediate issues or research in progress, responding to points raised in articles and raising new issues for discussion, will also be considered. Such items should be up to 1,500 words in length. Articles should be sent to the Editor as an e-mail attachment together with a brief autobiographical note, one to six keywords, an abstract of approximately 150 words and a suggested title. References should be in name/date format in the text, for example (Jones, 1999, p. 255), with full bibliographic references at the end of the paper.

Copyright

Authors submitting articles for publication warrant that the work is not an infringement of any existing copyright and will indemnify the publisher against any breach of such warranty.

Review procedure

Each paper is reviewed by the Editor and, if it is judged suitable for this publication, is then sent to one or more referees (usually members of the Editorial Board). Based on their recommendations, the Editor then decides whether the paper should be accepted as is, revised or rejected.

How to submit

Manuscripts or outlines of proposed articles should be submitted electronically to the Editor:
