Skillchange Systems has become the first producer of bespoke computer based training materials in the world to be accredited by the Institute of IT Training (ITT) under its Standards for Technology Based Training (TBT). So far, only Skillchange and NETg have met the IITT's stringent criteria for this award.
The IITT's Standards include a Code of Practice for TBT Providers; Standards for TBT Learning Materials; and Competencies for Developers of Learning Materials.
The Code of Practice is the basis for the Institute's TBT Provider Accreditation Programme, through which the Institute maintains and monitors a register of approved providers of TBT learning materials. The Code focuses on three main areas: information on products and services to be provided to clients prior to contact; conformance of learning materials to best practice standards; and designer and developer competency.
Alistair Morrison, managing director of Skillchange Systems, commented: "Our success in achieving this award was largely based on the application of our development approach - the Skillchange Instruction Method - which guides the design and development of all our materials to ensure quality, timeliness and economy".
He continued: "Some 50 per cent of our business each year relates to providing training in the new systems our clients are introducing.
"The most important component in any system is the user. Businesses will only achieve a speedy and significant return on the investment (ROI) in the system if the users are properly informed, educated, trained and supported.
"The IITT aims to promote the highest standards in terms of trainers and training materials - something which Skillchange is also keen to endorse", he added. "Naturally, we are delighted that SkillChange's standards meet the IITT's criteria, marking us out as a company that can help clients to maximize the ROI on their investment in systems."
