Graphisoft, developer of the award winning ArchiCAD system, has announced the acquisition of Bristol based building services software firm, Cymap. The agreement became official on 4 January 2000 and adds CADLink to the globally acclaimed Graphisoft Virtual Building technology.

Cymap specialises in computer-aided design software for HVAC and electrical building services.. It offers its market-leading programs to consulting engineers, building contractors, local authorities, government departments, educational institutions and the property departments of large companies. Their flagship product, CADLink, is a comprehensive, graphically based software package comprising a series of co-operating modules that can be used either together or individually for applications including heating and cooling load calculations, energy consumption appraisal, wiring and lighting design and pipe and ductwork analysis.

"Our customers have expressed a strong interest in such an addition. to our Virtual Building technology", said Graphisoft president and CEO GÄbor BojÄr. "Over the last 18 months we have examined many companies in various markets and found Cymap to be the optimal choice. This acquisition guarantees that our users will get even more value out of Graphisoft products."

Cymap managing director Jonn Fredericks added, "Over the next year, we will fully integrate our technology with Graphisoft's 3D model-based, building simulation concept. We are excited about working together and look forward to establishing an international presence for our products through Graphisoft's global distribution channel."

Graphisoft, developer of the Virtual Building concept and acknowledged technological leader of the 3D architectural design software market, has just released the UK version of ArchiCAD 6.5. The upgrade for the new millennium builds upon the company's 15-year leadership in 3D building modelling, and confirms a total commitment to advancing the industry's adoption of object-based, 3D architectural design.
