My guest today is…

Abstract

I USED to get letters frequently from colleagues suggesting topics to write about in this column, but I never did anything more than to say thank you for them and, not surprisingly, few people now write to pass on their ideas to me. Recently, however, I received c/o NEW LIBRARY WORLD the first letter of that kind for a long time—and the first one ever from someone outside the world of books and libraries.
