Abstract

PROFESSIONALISM in Manufacturing Engineering should not only be measured by the degree of success in current performance, but also by the quality of decisions made today which will affect output performance and competitiveness ten to fifteen years in the future. Obviously, the further ahead one tries to foresee the future in the control of machine tools, the less accurate will be the reality. This paper describes the actions being taken in one manufacturing facility based on a concept of how Turbine and Compressor Discs will be produced fifteen years from now.
