Abstract

Aircraft barrier undercarriage wheel wickets adapted to be mounted across an aircraft runway in the path of the landing wheels of a landing aircraft, and means for moving the wickets into alignment with the landing area of the nozzle, means for introducing fuel into the combustion chamber, flameholder means for stabilizing the flame in the combustion chamber including a plurality of streamlined members of aerofoil shape extending transversely of the axis of flow through the combustion chamber in substantial alignment with the fluid stream, means for mounting the members for pivotal movement about a spanwise axis including a spring for biasing movement of the members about the axis, detent means engageable with the members for restraining the members against movement about the axis, and means for simultaneously reducing the area of the nozzle and engaging the restraining means.
