The Direction of Research

Abstract

THE competition which has developed in recent months between the United States and Russia in the field of space probes and artificial satellites has set off an animated discussion as to the value and importance of such work. In particular, this country, placed as it is at present in third place while the giants struggle for first, must search very carefully for the best course to take.
