Abstract

IN selecting a wing to give the least possible drag at some predetermined speed the designer has three variables at his disposal, these being wing area, aerofoil section and aspect ratio. A fourth variable, taper ratio, is not considered in this article and will be assumed to be constant in any particular problem.
