Abstract

READERS will notice an alteration in the appearance of this page. The change is due to the need for conservation of paper which the times necessitate. As was announced last month, the two pages of summaries of British patent specifications disappear in this issue and are replaced by one page only of summaries of recent German patents, which cannot fail to be interesting and informative. We are taking this opportunity of saving another page in each issue by re‐arranging our leader pages and cutting these two pages down to one. In order to attain this, while retaining approximately the same space for the expression of our editorial views, we are dropping the Diary of Events—which in war time has inevitably shrunk to very small proportions—and transferring the Table of Contents to an advertisement page. This will in future, therefore, appear on the penultimate right‐hand advertisement page in the front of the paper—in this issue, on p. xxxv—where it will, we hope, be easy to find. The position will be invariable, though the page number will change from month to month. This will involve some small sacrifice in advertisement revenue, which is a price we are prepared to pay in order to be able to continue providing for our readers as nearly as possible the same amount of reading matter as heretofore.
