Abstract
IN the “Air Commerce Bulletin” issues of November 2 and December 1 (Vol. III, Nos. 9 and 11), reproduced in AIRCRAFT ENGINEERING, February, 1932, pp. 45–49, there appeared articles discussing the possibility of basing aircraft design requirements upon the actual performance of each specific aeroplane type. The programme outlined in those two articles, while fundamentally new, does not represent a radical departure from existing standards, as it is believed advisable to bring about such important changes by progressive stages, if possible.
