Trade Union Organisation and the Privatisation of Local Authority White Collar Services

Abstract

In the face of legislation that will force local government to privatise (most authorities prefer the term ‘externalise’) varying proportions of white collar services, many authorities have jumped before they are pushed (wishing to be ‘ahead of the game’) and have externalised services such as residential homes for the elderly, pay roll, computer services, property services etc.
