The Managerial Rating of Supervisory Performance
51
Abstract
There is general agreement that it is extremely difficult to assess the performance of first‐line supervisors. One problem is that supervisors do not normally produce or process any tangible output which can be measured. Another is that supervisors typically work as part of a wider social system, so that their performance is dependent upon co‐operation from others and upon the general quality of the organisation's policy and procedures.
