Information and Management: the Cybernetics of a Small Company
Abstract
The design of management information systems should take into consideration problems of organisational effectiveness. For this purpose, it is argued, we need to understand the conditions, internal to the organisation, that are limiting its learning and adaptation; that is, we need to understand the cybernetics of the organisation. An application of this approach has been undertaken in a small company, and the results are reported here. With the support of that experience, some general and particular propositions are made in relation to information relevant for management.
