The Good Interface: Friendly, Forgiving, and Intuitive
Abstract
Discusses the barriers affected by computer interfaces that prevent users from making proper use of the programme. Argues that a poorly designed interface can be fatal to any programme – especially a Campus Wide Information Service (CWIS). Examines the design of PNN (the Princeton News Network – Princeton University′s home grown CWIS). Discusses the problems associated with designers′ intuition and finally, the need to accommodate various concepts of what is intuitive.
