Abstract

Many small and medium‐sized libraries lack the need or money to install an integrated, automated system but recognize that the shoebox approach to record‐keeping is cumbersome and inefficient. For such a library, in‐house programming of a microcomputer‐based database management system can provide a method to some of the madness.
