Abstract
Research into retailing and distribution was relatively slow in taking off, compared with other sectors. Now, however, there is a fair amount of material produced both in America and Europe. The aim of this feature, which it is hoped to repeat periodically, is to bring to the attention of professional management a few of the potentially useful research papers on particular themes. It does not claim to be comprehensive nor is it intended to develop an argument.
