Abstract

A major in‐depth investigation, conducted by the Institution of Production Engineers, into the provision of continuing education and training (CET) in technological and management subjects has highlighted a number of inadequacies on the part of employers and training establishments. One of the main conclusions of the report is the existence of the need to motivate senior management into changing their attitudes towards CET. In many cases it is clear that virtually no investment is made in CET.
