Abstract

The situation in Indonesia, as far as information services are concerned, presents many of the problems which one might encounter in as many as twenty other countries at a similar stage in their development. Few of the latter however possess such massive and overriding influences as those which are caused by Indonesian geography and culture. To propose a pattern for the development of scientific and technical information services means at the outset that one must come to terms with a country of immense size and almost incomprehensible ethnic complexity.
