Abstract
One of the most difficult situations in which to introduce changes to people's jobs is where they already have a basic feeling of insecurity. So, in many ways, the current economic climate in Britain is hardly conducive to a general movement which centres on altering jobs and work organizations as a way of improving the quality of working life.
