Purpose – describes how to develop an effective approach to training senior managers. Design/methodology/approach – offers a five-step method of developing a training program that is tailored to the particular needs of senior managers. Findings – argues that trainers need to identify the skills needed by senior managers, evaluate their current skills, assess the extent of the training that they need, identify an external development provider to help to deliver the training, and evaluate the training.
