Totalfina has confirmed the signing of the final contract for the sale of the Inks Division (Coates) to the Sun Chemical Group, a wholly owned subsidiary of Japan's Dainippon Inks and Chemicals.
This sale, which was announced when the letter of intent was signed in July 1999, is subject to approval by the appropriate anti-trust authorities.
With the notable exception of specific sectors like screen and electrographics, the Coates Group has had a relatively low share of substantial American and German markets for some time. Linking the expertise and experience of Coates with the resources of the world-wide leader in the printing ink field is an exciting prospect that will offer major benefits to the printing industry world-wide.
