ESI Group and Chengdu Aircraft Industry form strategic collaboration

ESI Group a major company in virtual prototyping simulation, has announced that it will form a strategic collaboration in composites manufacturing engineering with Chengdu Aircraft Industry Group, a Chinese aircraft manufacturer and partner for the global aviation industry.

“ESI Group's virtual simulation solution for composite parts manufacturing engineering is really revolutionary,” says Mr Yougi Wen, chief manufacturing engineer at Chengdu Aircraft Industry Corp. “It changes the entire thinking and process of composite design and manufacturing at Chengdu Aircraft and enables us to know well in advance – as early as in the preliminary design phase – what kind of defects might occur in the composite parts due to the different methods or processes in manufacturing, against the design requirement of aircraft performance.”

Chengdu Aircraft has recently completed its implementation of ESI Group's composites simulation solution in its aircraft design and manufacturing engineering process. Today, new- generation composite parts in aircraft are a major innovation, dramatically reducing the weight of aircraft, thus improving aircraft performance and efficiency. The virtual simulation solution from ESI Group enables Chengdu Aircraft to simulate the entire process of the design and manufacturing of composite parts, accelerating the time-to-manufacture of reliable and high-performance composite parts, which are built as designed.
