NSK-RHP has extended the range of sizes available with its Silver-Lube series of corrosion resistant, mounted bearing units. The new 40mm and 1.5in. bore units, in common with all bearing inserts in the Silver-Lube series, are manufactured from stainless steel ­ a modified 440C type. This ensures their high resistance to corrosion and takes account of hygiene standards.

NSK-RHP's Silver-Lube series is a range of corrosion resistant mounted bearing units which have been designed specially for use in industries where hygiene considerations and corrosion and chemical resistance is important. Typical industries include chemical processing, pharmaceuticals, fisheries and food processing such as dairies, bottling and brewing.

The Silver-Lube series is completely interchangeable with RHP's Self-Lube range in terms of mounting details. However, because of the hostile environments in which they operate, SilverLube bearing units are manufactured with corrosion resistant bearing inserts and housings.

Each Silver-Lube insert is inclusive of stainless steel raceways, cage, balls and grub screws. Efficient and effective protection from ingress is provided by a stainless steel flinger and seal arrangement. The seal core is also made from stainless steel.

The inserts are charged with Chevron Poly FM2 which is a United States Drug Administration (USDA) H1 approved grease. They are easily regreaseable (attention to detail includes a stainless steel grease nipple in the housing which also has stainless steel bolt hole liners for additional strength).

Silver-Lube housings ­ pillow block, two and four bolt flange types ­ are manufactured from VALOX® 420. This is a high quality glass filled thermoplastic polyester resin which has excellent strength, stiffness, dimensional stability and chemical resistance.

The housing provides other benefits too. It does not rust, peel or chip and its smooth finish means that Silver-Lube does not harbour dirt, mould or bacteria. Hence, washdown is easier and more effective. As a result, the units are most suitable for use in applications where cleanliness is paramount.
