Abstract
Discusses the creation of an alcohol policy for employees as part of Birmingham City Council′s counselling initiative. Examines the recognition of the need for such a policy, the use of alcohol advisers, advisers′ skill deficits, good employer practice, and statistical data on referrals to the Occupational Health Service. States that the Council is considering display material to advertise the policy.
