Abstract

Purpose

This paper aims to review the latest management developments across the globe and pinpoint practical implications from cutting-edge research and case studies.

Design/methodology/approach

This briefing is prepared by an independent writer who adds their own impartial comments and places the articles in context.

Findings

Mindfulness and the application of mindful practice can have a powerful impact on leadership. Being mindful and taking the time to be present and aware in one’s daily work can make a significant difference to both employees and organizations. Scientific research into how brains function and the neuroscience of attention shows that mindfulness and mindful practice increase awareness and enhance our emotional intelligence. Mindful leaders are perceived as more self-aware and empathetic, and can more effectively motivate their employees and colleagues to achieve the goals and vision of an institution.

Practical implications

The paper provides strategic insights and practical thinking that have influenced some of the world’s leading organizations.

Originality/value

The briefing saves busy executives and researchers hours of reading time by selecting only the very best, most pertinent information and presenting it in a condensed and easy-to-digest format.
