2015 was a very successful year for Career Development International. The journal's impact factor rose to 1.29 placing it in the second quartile among Applied Psychology (ranking of 35/76) and Management (ranking of 88/185) journals. Impact per publication continues to rise and reached 1.619 in 2014. Moving up in the Association of Business Schools Academic Journal Quality Guide to 2, in AERES (France) to 2, and the Australian Business Deans Council Quality Journal List to B serves as an important external validation for the quality of manuscripts that are published in the journal.

Maintaining such high quality is a collective effort aided by the hundreds of reviewers who give their time and talent freely to the journal and the dedicated Associate Editors who work tirelessly for the journal. I rely heavily on my Associate Editors Professors Tom Stone (Oklahoma State University, USA), Julia Richardson (York University, Canada), Bert Schreurs (Maastricht University, Netherlands), and Akram Al Ariss (Toulouse Business School, France) to lead the journal. These colleagues deserve our thanks and admiration for their dedication to providing high-quality and constructive feedback to potential contributors. I am also very appreciative of the support of the Emerald Team consisting of Zoe Morris, Emma Steele, and Louise Lister and the crew that works behind the scenes to maintain a successful journal. Indeed, I am very fortunate to be working with such a talented group of people.

The scope of CDI encompasses mainstream career research as well as research addressing topics in the broad areas of human resource management and organizational behavior that have implications for careers and managing careers. CDI publishes theoretical papers, review articles offering new insights and research directions, qualitative and quantitative studies, and special issues on topics dealing with important issues, concerns, and emerging trends. In 2014, we published two special issues and we plan to publish one in 2016 entitled, "Meta-analytic findings: updating research and supporting practice on work place issues," guest edited by Professors Chockalingam Viswesvaran, Deniz S. Ones, and Jessica Mesmer-Magnus. Potential guest editors are encouraged to contact us with their ideas for special issues. Prospective authors are encouraged to visit the journal's homepage to peruse previous issues and learn about the submission process.

I am pleased that the number of submissions continues to increase. Decreasing acceptance rates (13 percent in 2014) have resulted in publication of high-quality articles employing sound and sophisticated methodologies. Indeed, the prestige of CDI is on the rise as evidenced by the impact factor and other metrics and the reputation of well-known scholars who routinely consider CDI as a potential outlet for their research. I fully expect this positive trend to continue.

As I begin my ninth year as Editor, I am very grateful for the support I continue to receive from our Emerald Team and professional colleagues, from authors to reviewers to readers. I am confident you will enjoy reading our first issue of 2016. It is truly an eclectic collection of important research that will impact the field. Join me in looking forward to another great year for Career Development International.
