Article Type: Editorial From: Aircraft Engineering and Aerospace Technology: An International Journal, Volume 87, Issue 6

This special issue of the Aircraft Engineering and Aerospace Technology (AEAT) pays tribute to the excellent outcomes of the AEROTECH V Conference 2014 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, organised by the Department of Aerospace Engineering at Universiti Putra Malaysia. It was the fifth edition of this biennial gathering, the first of which was held in 2005 in Putrajaya, Malaysia.

With the theme “Progressive Aerospace Research”, this latest conference attracted presenters, researchers and participants from several countries, among them Algeria, Libya, Australia, Taiwan, South Korea, Indonesia, Japan, Thailand, India, Pakistan, UK, Turkey, Singapore, USA, Russia, Egypt, Spain and France. AEROTECH V Conference 2014 covered aerospace design, flight and system performances, space systems, aerospace management and operation and also aerospace-related topics. There were 125 papers received, but only 90 of which were accepted for the conference following an extensive review process by two experts in the relevant field. From these accepted papers, only nine papers have been selected for publication in this AEAT special issue.

Given the fact that aerospace engineering is one of the engineering fields with a very high-technological density, its continuous progression has spearheaded technological breakthroughs that have nourished various fields of engineering and society in general. Therefore, aerospace research journals such as AEAT and international aerospace conferences like the AEROTECH series will continue to keep researchers and scholars abreast of the latest developments in aerospace engineering and provide the opportunity to share their discoveries with the international community of fellow aerospace engineers, scientists, scholars and enthusiasts.

Indeed, it is my pleasure here to invite all the future authors to contribute their aerospace research articles to the upcoming AEROTECH VI Conference 2016 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Finally, I would like to thank the AEAT Editor Dr Askin T. Isikveren for his continuous supports.
