Alcatel Telecom transforms technicians into managers

Abstract

Companies which make their best technical people into managers often fail to recognize that management demands a completely new set of skills. Ex‐technicians are left to “sink or swim” in a new world which demands them to be flexible and sensitive leaders and communicators. Management development at Alcatel Telecom aims to overcome this problem, by easing the transition from technical to business manager.
