BBC pioneers a flexible approach to lifelong learning
Abstract
Eight employees from document archives at the BBC in London have graduated from a new system of lifelong‐learning awards aimed at meeting the needs of industry and commerce in a flexible way. The document analysts and senior document analysts had a total of more than 70 years’ experience, but mostly lacked theoretical underpinning in the discipline. They also lacked professional standing because most of them did not have formal qualifications and this was hindering their personal development. Some had only school‐level qualifications, while others had a first degree and one had a second degree in an information subject.
