Abstract

Soft systems methodology (SSM) is an approach to modelling human activity systems that is becoming increasingly popular as a means of learning about, and improving, such systems. Any system that involves humans engaged in purposeful activity can be modelled using SSM. Gives an overview of the methodology and its development, indicating the ways in which it can assist managers in the development of improved systems.
