Opportunities for trainees

Opportunities for trainees

I would advise anyone who holds a library trainee post, or who is looking for one, to take alook at a new web site called OWL the Oxford web site for library trainees. At the moment, this is an experimental site, but it comes across as fresh and clearly-presented, with well-selected links to other sites including professional associations, job vacancy pages, Library Schools, Electronic Library projects, search engines and more "lifestyle"-based links to movie and music databases. I particularly took to the Lipstick Librarian, a US site for those with "the ability to look fabulous while poking around a dot-matrix printer with a bent paper-clip."

There is a clear regional focus, with links to sites about Oxford and the University, as it is the University which provides the employment for most of the Oxford trainees but it should be first port of call for any potential Library professional, or those at the early stages of their career. I could not fault it. Look at: http://www.lib.ox.ac.uk/owl/index.html
