This issue of Retail Insights will focus on the topic of e-business. We commence with an article from Rowley and Slack, based around the concept of leveraging customer knowledge. The paper offers a summary of material presented at a recent conference which looked at understanding consumer behaviour on the Internet. This summary aims to identify some key issues and areas for future research in the field of e-marketing.

We follow this up with a piece from eLogistics, which reports on the ILT Annual Logistics Debate. Noting that the aftershocks of the dot.com earthquake will continue to be felt for a considerable time, the item offers insights from companies such as Boots and Guinness Limited.

Anite Travel Systems then provides some statistics from a recent survey based around online travel and shopping. While there are some positive findings, such as the belief of63 per cent of respondents that the Internet will be the dominant technology for booking in five years' time, the survey also throws up some limiting factors, such as fear of fraud and the slow take-up of grocery shopping online.

To conclude, we have the usual selection of abstracts taken from the Emerald Reviews database to provide a round-up of some of the best recent articles on the theme.
