Hemsley Fraser has launched a new range of training courses called "The professional project manager".

New skills are required as companies use project-based working more and more to enable them to focus the best knowledge and people within an organisation. With the demand for project managers currently outstripping supply, the 38 courses aim to provide the skills, knowledge and confidence to fill this gap.

An introduction is provided by courses such as "Introduction to effective project management". To enable the more seasoned project manager to run larger and more complex projects, a number of advanced courses are available, including "Managing e-business projects" and "Identifying and managing project risks".

Intellectual capital is increasingly a major source of competitive advantage. A new course, "Applying knowledge management to projects", aims to ensure that an organisation brings together all of its relevant experience to every point of action or decision. This ensures that learning is captured for each project and shared with the organisation.

John Steel, Project Management Consultant, comments: "Organisations of all sizes are increasingly using projects to address issues, introduce new programmes and improve company processes. The chances of project success are dramatically increased when the skills of the project manager are effectively married with a project-based culture within an organisation. Hemsley Fraser courses and consultancy aims to create a "project-friendly climate" by providing the strategic, planning and relationship-building skills required".
