Careers:: COURSES
Abstract
The Clothing & Allied Products Industry Training Board has selected Bradford University's honours course in Industrial Technology and Management as suitable for providing a future source of management graduates for the clothing industry. A clothing option has therefore been built on to the existing degree course and will be taught by means of specialised lectures, seminars and tutorials on clothing technology, processes and marketing by specialist guest lecturers invited from the industry. Additionally two major projects centred on clothing will be undertaken during the middle and final years of the course, and the two periods of industrial placement which form an integral part of the course will be spent within the industry. The CAPITB will assist in obtaining suitable placements, and will offer six scholarships of £500 per annum each to help support students taking the clothing option. In addition the Manpower Services Commission are likely to offer six scholarships of equal value, reserved for women. Interest has already been shown by first‐year students, and the option will therefore be introduced in the forthcoming academic year with full implementation expected in the following year.
