Abstract

The recent article by Beaumont and Taylor entitled ‘Some Implications Arising from Technician Education Council Policy’ has introduced some of the more contentious aspects of the TEC philosophy and the manner in which it is being implemented. However, when considering the three main questions posed in their paper one wonders if a single question would have been sufficient. For instance, had they asked ‘Will the solutions we provide in the 1970's to problems which were identified in the 1960's still be acceptable in the 1980's?’, the problems facing the TEC would be more vividly exposed.
