Lloyd Doyle Limited has announced “redline®”, a new addition to their range of systems designed to detect faults on bare pcbs. The new system builds on the success of the EXCALIBUR and phasor AOT platforms and will enable maximum fault detection on all pcb image types.

The redline® is a reflective-light based AOT system which gives maximum flexibility to users allowing them to optically test a wide variety of pcb substrate / surface combinations. The unique system incorporates a new style of illumination system that is suited to contemporary copper clad laminates such as “reverse treated foils” and chemically treated “double-treat” materials. The imaging capabilities of the new system easily cope with these materials in spite of their inherent low- contrast.

“The redline® development represents a step forward in the flexibility of AOT systems” commented Lloyd Doyle CEO, Roy Lloyd. “It is able to perform on a wide range of low-contrast materials including photo-resist-on-copper and will be targeted at the prototype manufacturer who needs greatest flexibility from one machine with the lowest investment level.”

This new development will be available as a stand-alone system or it can be retrofitted to existing AOT systems as an upgrade.
